Awareness Team

What's Happening

The Awareness Team is dedicated to the public promotion of green computing on campus. This team acts as an advisory and working group to share ideas and provide input on CSCI @ U-M communications efforts.

A campus-wide awareness campaign kicks off in September 2008 to educate students, faculty, and staff on the importance of environmentally sound IT energy consumption at work and at home. Awareness efforts are an overarching component of the entire CSCI @ U-M project.

What we do

  • Assist with the promotion of projects within their respective units and on their unit’s behalf
  • Create awareness of the growing impact of computing consumption on the environment
  • Promote concrete ways people can reduce computing consumption of resources
  • Host a Green IT Lecture Series

Carrie StefanskiCarrie Stefanski, Team lead
Stefanski, marketing communicaitons specialist for Information and Technology Services, has been involved with CSCI @ U-M since the early planning stages. She has watched the project grow from the initial requirements and expand to cover other concerns of the campus community. Stefanski breaks down the complex issue of energy consumption. Her view is simple—it all adds up and every bit of energy saved lessens our carbon footprint.
