Planet Blue Support
What's Happening
- Server Room move – in progress: Because of combined efforts between CSCI @ U-M and Planet Blue, a number of servers from the Fleming Building are moving to the Information and Technology Services Data Center—an environmentally controlled facility. Planet Blue estimates annual savings of $94,000 from heating and cooling costs alone.
- CSCI @ U-M will have a presence at future Planet Blue open houses to share information about the Initiative and promote green computing practices.
CSCI @ U-M joined forces with an existing U-M sustainability effort, Planet Blue. Planet Blue serves as a platform for introducing the University community to the Environmental and Energy Initiative (EEI). The EEI seeks to make the campus more sustainable in the wake of rising energy costs, climate change concerns, and depleting resources. Planet Blue teams go through campus buildings on a case-by-case basis, to find more effective ways to conserve energy, increase recycling, and protect the environment.
What we do
- Engage individuals and provide green computing awareness materials at building kick-off events
- Promote other CSCI @ U-M efforts
- Work with Planet Blue to implement energy-saving measures in building computing environments
